LUKE 24:1-35 - JESUS DREW NEAR

·        Name some of the hurting people to whom Jesus ministered after He arose from the dead.
·        As we see in our text, Jesus also appeared to two of His followers on the Road to Emmaus. They were also hurting.  It says in Luke 24:15, "Jesus himself drew near, and went with them."
·        Even today, when we are hurting, we find that Jesus draws near.

JESUS DRAWS NEAR DURING CONFUSION - Vss. 1-12

1.     The confusion of the empty tomb – Vss. 1-3
2.     The confusion of an angelic appearance – Vss. 4-8
3.     The confusion of the women’s report – Vss. 9-11
4.     The confusion of Peter’s visit to the tomb. – Vs. 12
5.     How do the following verses help in times of confusion? Matthew 11:28-30, John 14:1-6, Romans 8:38-39,

JESUS DRAWS NEAR WITH CONCERN - Vss. 15-17

1.     Though we don’t always realize it, Jesus is with us wherever we go. Vss. 13-16, Matthew 28:20, Hebrews 13:5-6
2.     Jesus cares about the well-being of His disciples. Vs. 17, John 10:11-14, Hebrews 2:14-18

JESUS DRAWS NEAR WITH CORRECTION - Vss. 18-27

1.     Notice that Jesus listened to their concerns first, and then corrected them. Vss. 18-24
2.     Notice how thorough Jesus was in his instruction, and that He used the Scriptures as His authority. Vss. 25-27

JESUS DRAWS NEAR WITH COMFORT - Vss. 28-35

1.     These disciples were comforted by Jesus’ appearance. Vss. 28-31
2.     They were comforted with a good heartburn. Vs. 32
3.     They acted quickly to share the comfort. Vss. 33-35
