LUKE 24:1-35 - JESUS DREW NEAR

·        Name some of the hurting people to whom Jesus ministered after He arose from the dead.

·        As we see in our text, Jesus also appeared to two of His followers on the Road to Emmaus. They were also hurting.  It says in Luke 24:15, "Jesus himself drew near, and went with them."

·        Even today, when we are hurting, we find that Jesus draws near.

1.     Though we don’t always realize it, Jesus is with us wherever we go. Vss. 13-16, Matthew 28:20, Hebrews 13:5-6

2.     Jesus cares about the well-being of His disciples. Vs. 17, John 10:11-14, Hebrews 2:14-18

JESUS DRAWS NEAR WITH CORRECTION - Vss. 18-27

1.     Notice that Jesus listened to their concerns first, and then corrected them. Vss. 18-24

2.     Notice how thorough Jesus was in his instruction, and that He used the Scriptures as His authority. Vss. 25-27

JESUS DRAWS NEAR WITH COMFORT - Vss. 28-35

1.     These disciples were comforted by Jesus’ appearance. Vss. 28-31

2.     They were comforted with a good heartburn. Vs. 32

3.     They acted quickly to share the comfort. Vss. 33-35

BONDED! - 1 John 1:3-4

1 John 1:3-4 - That which we have seen and heard declare we unto you, that ye also may have fellowship with us: and truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ. And these things write we unto you, that your joy may be full.

The key word in these verses is fellowship. When we have fellowship we are bonding.

We want to bond so that our joy can be “full” – Vs. 4

BONDING WITH THE FATHER - ...and truly our fellowship is with the Father

·        BONDING WITH THE FATHER IS BONDING IN PURPOSE – Isaiah 42:8,

BONDING WITH THE SON - ...and with his Son Jesus Christ.

·        BONDING WITH THE SON IS BONDING WITH MY LORD – John 13:13, 12:24-26

·        BONDING WITH THE SON IS BONDING WITH MY HIGH PRIEST –  Hebrews 4:14-16

·        BONDING WITH THE SON IS BONDING WITH HIS POWER –              Philippians 4:13, Acts 1:8, Galatians 2:20

BONDING WITH THE SAINTS - ...that ye also may have fellowship with us:
